Abstract, earthy neutrals collide. This rug will be handwoven by the artisans of M'rirt. Keltouma and her daughter Soukina lead this group of 25 artisans from a Village just outside Beni M’rirt, located in the foothills of the Middle Atlas Mountains. The traditional Beni M’rirt rug is inspired by the popular Beni Ourain rug. There are quite a few differences in these techniques, the most visible is the thickness of the knot and wool that the artisans of M’rirt use. This design was inspired by a vintage one, updated with warmer colors. The hero symbol in the design was the original universal sign of the Amazigh nation which was called Numidia at the time.
While the base of the rug uses natural, undyed wool, the colorful splotches use a mix of florals to get the perfect orange and pink hues.
